    Title: Ultra-Wideband Phased Array Antenna Technology for Multi-Functional Integrated Applications

    Abstract:
    Ultra-wideband phased array antenna technology is critically important in fields such as radar and communications. The co-design of multi-domain characteristics (e.g., frequency, polarization, and spatial domains) represents a key challenge. For instance, airborne platforms require antennas with low-profile and miniaturized structures, meaning constrained apertures in either longitudinal or lateral dimensions. Simultaneously, these antennas must meet the performance requirements of integrated multifunctional applications in terms of wide bandwidth, low cross-polarization, and wide beam coverage. However, current technologies often focus on single or limited performance aspects, failing to satisfy the stringent demands of multifunctional integration. This talk thoroughly discusses co-design methods and key technologies for achieving multi-domain performance in ultra-wideband phased arrays under structural constraints.

    Biography:
    Jian Xu Sun received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Chengdu, China, in 2019 and 2025, respectively. Since 2025, he has been with the School of Electronic Science and Engineering, UESTC, where he is currently a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow. His recent research interests include ultra-wideband phased arrays, conformal phased arrays, millimeter-wave phased arrays, and array synthesis. Dr. Sun has received several prestigious awards, including the China National Postdoctoral Program for Innovative Talents in 2025, the Honorable Mention Award in the 2021/2023 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (AP-S), and the Finalist Award in the 2022 IEEE AP-S. He was awarded the 2022 IEEE AP-S Fellowship. He was awarded the 2023 IEEE AP-S Doctoral Research Grant and TICRA Travel Grants. He was awarded the title of The Most Outstanding Students Award of UESTC in 2022 and the Excellent Graduate Student of Sichuan Province in 2025. (Email: sunjianxu@uestc.edu.cn)
